At 53, Anémone learns that she’s suffering from early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. The life she had chosen, to forget the one she first had, is about to change...
Nearly 30 years ago, Anémone, or Manon as she was then called, had to escape from a life of violence, leaving her three young children behind. Fortunately, a lady with a big heart named Lise welcomed her with open arms into her home, which at the time served as a women’s shelter in the small town of Belleville. Under a new identity in this other life she has made for herself, Anémone, now working as an embalmer, has been living happily surrounded by her children from a second relationship: Karla, the eldest daughter now back home, Simon, a young father who inherited his father’s renovation business, and Olivia, her adopted younger daughter who’s following in her footsteps.
When she gets her diagnosis and learns about its hereditary potential, Anémone’s previous life, which no one in her family knows about, returns to haunt her. Will she have the strength and courage to track down her first children, Caroline, Sébastien, and Jean-Olivier, before she forgets about them forever? What happened to these children, raised by her first husband Ronald and his mother under very difficult conditions? And above all, how will they react when they learn that their mother, Manon is still alive? Anémone will finally be held accountable....
In addition to coping with her diagnosis, Anémone meets the new director of the funeral home, Vincent, who relentlessly observes her every move and with whom she develops a disturbing relationship. Exactly what is Vincent hoping to find? And does he have another story to tell as well?
