To allow viewers into the heart of the mythical Caxtonnerie, with time enough to really get to know the characters and recognize the flora and fauna, the series is structured like a documentary soap opera, unfolding in 4 episodes of 1 hour each.
Far from playing the anthropological, sociological, or analytical card in its approach to presenting reality, the tone of the series deals directly with emotions on the human scale, to allow viewers to fully take part in their discovery of Saint-Élie-de-Caxton.
By sticking its nose in the villagers’ business, the series hooks viewers like a TV soap opera. Each episode, in fact, presents different main characters, so we can see what they do, what they think about, the big things in their lives, and how they interact with other characters in the village – even the very ones who may become the characters in a subsequent episode – the sum of their meetings will eventually give a global portrait of Saint-Élie-de-Caxton that’s true to the legend.
