Olivier is the story of a child (Anthony Bouchard at 6, Thomas Derasp at 17) abandoned at birth and shuffled from one family to another. It’s also the story of the families who shelter him, the homes he lives in, the people he meets, the schools he goes to.

In the background, it’s also a page of Quebec history from the 1960s and 1970s to the early 1980s: the nursery infants, foster families, adoptions, the impact of religion...and the well-kept family secrets.

In each of the families where he tries to put down roots, the Bilodeaus (Sylvie de Morais, Francis-William Rhéaume), the Surprenants (Sébastien Ricard, Évelyne Rompré), the Rivards (Kathleen Fortin, Jean-Marc Dalphond), and the Dubreuils (Catherine Proulx-Lemay, Steve Laplante), significant events will shape Olivier’s personality, his character, and influence his destiny. A destiny built on resilience. Despite a path full of pitfalls, Olivier learns to trust life, and with courage and determination accept the passages he must go through and hopes for the best. He finally reaches his ultimate goal of turning 18 and becoming self-sufficient, with a measure of control over his own life and free from the clutches of others.
