The 2nd Canadian Division Training Centre provides instructions to soldiers in a variety of trades. The Canadian Forces base in Valcartier trains soldiers going to the front in how to be professional infantrymen. While Basic Military Qualification is the universal training any new military recruit receives, the infantry course prepares soldiers for actual combat. Weapons handling, hand-to-hand combat, field exercises, tactical movements: thrill-seekers are guaranteed to be satisfied. Grueling fitness exercises prepare future infantry soldiers for deployment in the field. Candidates learn the hard way, under hostile conditions. The objective of the course is to put soldiers in situations of stress and extreme fatigue. Some will fall in battle while others will survive and conquer. After 13 weeks of intense training, graduating soldiers will be able to proudly wear the badge of the Royal 22nd Regiment on their berets: the beaver.
