Every week more than 14,000 Quebecers make an appeal to the judicial system. Whether they’re the plaintiffs or the accused, their destiny is in the hands of the law. Having recourse to justice is a complex challenge. Our legal system, based on habeas corpus, makes everyone equal under the law, and leaves many people totally destitute and unable to cope with this immense machine.

In Histoires en cour we meet people whose lives have been disrupted by an event with troubling and sometimes tragic consequences. An event that changed the course of their lives and their destiny. From what triggered the event to its chilling finality, each story is quest for compensation once justice is rendered. A very human and legitimate quest. A quest that each one hopes will help them recover. The documentary series highlights the psychological and emotional toll taken on the victims on the road to justice.
