Duration: 10 x 30 minutes

The En rodage documentary series follows new, unknown comedians as they break in their routines in bars. Each week, Réal Béland provides access behind the scenes where a different comedian breaks in their material… and we accompany them on this critical rite of passage. We also have special access to each comedian and their entourage, who see them evolve week after week—agents, promoters, other comedians, writers, directors, stage technicians, or even bar employees—allowing us to witness the many difficulties and small victories in the life of a new comedian breaking in their material. Behind the glamour, the big venues, and the big bucks, there are months of hard work, harsh environments, disgruntled audiences, shabby motels, long hours in the car, and never-ending financial worries. En rodage veers away from the glamorous and polished lives of comedians who’ve earned their place in the star system and shows the rough and tumble life they must endure before getting a taste of fame and recognition. The objective is to accurately depict the humanity, the intensity, and the humour on that journey, as we wander from bar to bar.
