Independent journalists like Amy Goodman, Glenn Greenwald, Jeremy Scahill, and Matt Taibbi are changing the face of journalism, providing investigative, adversarial alternatives to mainstream, corporate news outlets. Our cameras follow as they expose government and corporate deception – just as the ground-breaking independent journalist I.F. Stone did decades ago.
The videos produced by White Pine Pictures for the website revealed the how independent journalists and broadcasters work, raise money, and reach their audiences. To tie the past and present together, we connected the processes discussed by journalists in these videos with stories of famous moments in history where lies were exposed by journalists.
We framed the content of the site starting with the initial lie that was eventually exposed by journalists including The Vietnam War, the U.S. invasion of Iraq, and the NSA. Then we explained the context behind these government deceptions and how independent journalists exposed them.
We also provided tools for users to explore current stories from investigative journalists via a curated Twitter feed featuring some of our key interviewees, such as Michael Moore, Matt Taibbi, and Democracy Now.
