Phoques: le film

Documentary
French

Seal hunting is generally depicted in the media as a barbaric activity carried out at the expense of vulnerable creatures, a practice many celebrities have openly spoken out against. On the Îles de la Madeleine ice packs, unsteady boats, moving icebergs and the risks of the job are all in a day’s work for seal hunters, a reality the public often ignores. This documentary encourages sealers and other industry players to share new thought-provoking perspectives on what they do, bringing political, economic, environmental and moral issues on sealing that are rarely, if ever, mentioned in the media to light.
