Burning Water

Documentary
English

The Lauridsen family of Valhalla Farm, near Rosebud, Alberta, finds strange bubbles in the water it uses for bathing, drinking and farming. The water turns out to be full of chemicals. In fact, it is flammable right out of the tap. That starts a fight for the truth behind an alarming phenomenon in towns across North America.

Burning Water looks at the financial and social impact on one family whose prototypical Albertan dream of living off the land has put it at odds with the “New West.” Property is dominated by oil and gas wells rather than herds of cattle, and the provincial government seems to favour energy royalties over support for farmers.
